Where competition exists the following scale of points is accepted and used by the American Gourd Society for displays of ornamental and hard shell gourds. Exhibitors and judges should understand the scale of points and follow the respective schedule of events. See part 1 for further information.

MEASURING GOURDS FOR LENGTH

To differentiate straight and curved or crooked gourds
 

  • Straight gourds not to exceed 4" gradual curve
  • Curved or crooked gourds must exceed 4" distinctive curve
  • Stem not included in measurement

Measurement of Straight gourds:
 

  • Measure straight from blossom end to stem
  • Stem is not included in length

Measurement of curved or crooked gourds:
 

  • Measure center top from blossom end to stem
  • Stem is not included in length
