One of the purposes of the Iowa Gourd Society is to 'Educate' the  public on gourds; Cedar Rapids members look forward to sharing their knowledge whenever they can.  If you would like to have members of the  Iowa Gourd Society present to your group or organization, please contact Sharon Foster at: sharon.foster@mcsi.com

Cedar Rapids Singles Church Group
An example of a Gourd Birdhouse class taught by Sharon Foster for the Linn County Extension Office Program.

Cedar Rapids Patch members share with children unique ways to decorate a gourd; this year it was by  using Spinner Gourds as Christmas Ornaments.  Each child left with their very own, personally decorated ornament.  This is always a very popular part of our Annual Brucemore Garden & Art Show booth.

Thanks to the effort of Jody Warren, Sharon Foster & Melanie Franks, the Cedar Rapids Patch group are showcasing their gourd art at Wickiup Outdoor Learning Center in Palo, IA from June through November 2011.  Wickiup hosts hundreds of educational, historical and cultural events, providing one-of-a-kind learning experiences to tens of thousands of people.

On November 17, 2011 from 6-9pm, gourd artist Sharon Foster will be teaching a class on making gourd Christmas Ornaments.  Check out Wickiup's website and look for the Fall class schedule for more information at:
