Layered with dirt
Dry as can be
Piles of Gourds
Waiting for me.

Lots of water
Gourds afloat
Covered with towels
An hour to soak.

 Then it's time
Scrub brush rotating
Around each gourd
While thoughts are contemplating.

A gourd to paint
Or gouge or stain
An artist's task 
Is what remains.
