A gourd is a plant
which vines by day
its smelly leaves
keep deer at bay.

Nature flowers
the gourd at night
hoping that moths
might catch their sight.

 On the vine
grows heavy green shapes
almost 9 months
for the water to escape.

Then the hardshell
will come clean
releasing a canvas 
for the artist's dream.
