Staffing: Judges & Clerks
How many Judges & Clerks are needed?
  • Judging Team = 3 Judges & 1 Clerk
  • Number of teams varies by size of show and availability of volunteers
  • Head Judge is not on a Judging Team
Head Judge
  • If one or more AGS Certified Judges are available, one of them shall be appointed as the Head Judge
  • If none is available, show chair person will appoint a person to act as Head Judge
AGS-Certified Judges
  • Although not a requirement, AGS Certified Judges lends credibility to the competition and indicates that the AGS judging guidelines will be followed.
Clerks
  • AGS-Certified Judges and/or AGS trained Apprentice Judges may be assigned as Clerks.
  • The show may also include Chapter members with an interest in becoming a judge, whether or not otherwise trained or certified.
  • Clerks do not assist in judging.
  • Clerks serve the purpose of keeping official records of the judges’ decisions, so should be chosen for their ability to keep accurate and clear records of the judging.
