Open Coiling with Danish Cord
Date: Saturday, April 6th Time: 10 am to 5:30 pm Description: Students will learn basic open coiling, as well as “windows” and “coils” and techniques for hiding the drilled holes and keeping their stitches straight. The coiling material is Danish cord that will be accented with Design Master Color sprays. All materials will be provided. The gourd bowl will be dyed a chocolate brown and sealed. The interior will be left natural for students to paint their preferred color after class. This is a technique class, the project may or may not be finished during class time. Date: Sunday, April 7th Time: 10 am to 3:00 pm Description: Have you ever fretted over how to give your gourd that finishing touch? What kind of treatment would be just right for your gourd? Well, this class has an interesting rim for your gourd bowls. This class will show you the flexibility and creative uses of sea grass. First you will learn how to create a simple rim of sea grass and then how to expand the rim to add dimension and pizzazz. During class, the instructor will talk about how to embellish the rim with beads or natural materials. All materials will be provided.
