Updates to the AGS Constitution & ByLaws
A committee was formed at the beginning of the year (2022) to look at the AGS Constitution & ByLaws and determine if any changes were needed. It was agreed that the vast majority of the provisions in these documents only needed a “facelift” which was done by reformatting them in a style more consistent with the 21st century. The committee did find a few ByLaws that did not adequately address the needs of chapters and members and/or were silent when it came to covering some aspects of the magazine and AGS programs. Much back and forth sharing of the documents took place and the committee presented various drafts with the Executive Board and the chapter presidents several times over the course of this year. It is now ready for membership to review and (hopefully) approve the updated AGS Constitution & ByLaws. Copies below can be downloaded for full review. If you have unanswered questions you can contact the Board by email: americangourdsociety@gmail.com Voting by members will be open for 45 days as required by the 2019 version of the AGS Constitution: from September 1, 2022 through October 15, 2022. |
