THEMES ... Plan Ahead!

​The theme for Fall 2025 is "More than Just a Gourd." Does your gourd have another purpose beyond being a beautiful gourd, such as a birdhouse, a purse, a mask, hat, lamp, musical instrument?
Then this is the category for you. All mediums are allowed but the judges will be looking to see how you've creatively used a gourd to serve a second purpose. Entry Deadline - July 15, 2025


The theme for Winter 2025 is  “Gourd Sculptures.” Create a sculpture using 3 or more gourds or gourd parts. Other embellishments and materials may be used, but gourds must be the predominant material used. Entry Deadline - November 15.

Why Enter?
  • The first-place winner will receive a free 1-year membership extension of their AGS membership
  • All winners will also receive a digital copy of the magazine for sharing with family and friends
  • In addition, the first-place artist will be profiled in a feature article the following issue
  • *Note: First place winners may only win one membership prize during a 12-month period
  • After two (2) first place wins, the entrant will be asked to be a judge instead of an entrant
